From forming back in September 2024, its been nothing short of a whirlwind for The Certs. Playing sell out gigs across the south west, the band have been raising both their profile and fan base. Not only did Carter appear in the current Bridget Jones Movie, but The Certs also had a song featured in the film. The boys have appeared as themselves in a short film as part of a You Tube series which will be out soon which looks at the music industry
in the 00's. Building on playing at a number of festivals, the band are currently getting booked up for 2026 performances for more major shows. The first three singles have been featured on BBC Introducing which saw them invited into the BBC Live lounge to perform a live set.

MUSIC

Forming in 2024, The Certs are a southern based 4-piece band, performing a variety of sellout gigs and building up their fanbase. Yesterday they released their newest single, ‘LUNA’, an emotional track based around building solidarity between the band and listeners, especially those that struggle with mental health.
Now, on to the music.
Opening into the track, it’s immediately hard hitting, raw and distorted, instrumentally giving the track a level of authenticity before the vocals are even introduced. This set up also established the atmosphere and tone for the track before being stripped back for the first verse, and again building as ‘LUNA’ progresses.
The vocals are performed well, holding a weight and pain behind them, showing a level of strength in the face of struggle, along with a fear for what is to come. It’s a heartfelt show of connection, being used as a way to potentially inspire hope. They’ve done well to combine their sound with a story, a true feat in writing and performance.
I think that ‘LUNA’ is very well composed and does well to combine the talents of the vocalist and instrumentalists in the band. It’s hard hitting but not too heavy, merging well with the current popular style of alternative music, while maintaining some elements of individuality. ‘LUNA’ is clearly very well written and shows The Certs experience and talents.
It’s clear how hard working The Certs are, considering their established name in the southern music scene and popularity of their tracks. So, how can you best support them? Well, by following their socials, all linked below, streaming ‘LUNA’ and, if you can, get to one of their gigs.
Happy Listening!
